The ITF Technology Showcase will host upstream professionals in technology innovations on 9 March 2016 in Aberdeen, United Kingdom. GA Drilling embraced an opportunity to present and showcase technology PLASMABIT among the recognized O&G operators, such as BP or ConocoPhillips.
The theme for the ITF Technology Showcase is “Technology’s Role in Transforming Costs and Increasing Efficiency Now”. The ITF Technology Showcase is a collaborative, innovation and technology focused exhibition and conference. In 2015, this prominent technology event attracted more than 500 visitors, 60 exhibitors, and 30 speakers.
On 9 March 2016, Tomas Kristofic, CTO at GA Drilling, will deliver the presentation “PLASMABIT Milling Technology” within Technical Session A1 – Well Plugging & Abandonment, hosted by ConocoPhillips and BP (the scheduled time 1.45pm-3:05pm). Tomas Kristofic is highly skilled in the areas of process automation, electronics and embedded system communication for preserving reliability in harsh environments.
The core of presentation is plasma-based milling technology addressing the main challenges of Plug & Abandonment sector. Rapid structural degradation of steel using PLASMABIT enables a significantly higher rate of milling when compared to conventional approaches. The technology labelled “ground-breaking” is associated with through tubing abandonment, non-vessel based P&A and it is making 100ft of tubing disappear.
Furthermore, GA Drilling will showcase its ground-breaking technology at linked exhibition and thus may raise awareness of current technology development. Recently appointed members of the Advisory Board Mr. Nigel Jenkins and Iain Pittman will join Tomas Kristofic in GA Drilling stand (No.36). Nigel Jenkins is an independent O&G business improvement and business growth consultant. Iain Pittman is a senior well abandonment & intervention engineer, specialising in the design and operational phases of the well lifecycle.
Non-profit organisation ITF facilitated the launch of more than 200 projects from early stage concepts through commercialisation. Their vision is to enable the consistent and effective delivery of collaborative technology development and deployment. In a nutshell, ITF initiatives bring forward collaborative funding for R&D projects that address shared technology challenges.
