We are seeking a seasoned Engineer with 10+ years’ experience in designing control algorithms and software for downhole drilling systems, as well as prototyping operating and debugging the associated test equipment. The ideal candidate will be equally well versed in design, analysis, and test.

Job Duties:
• Develops physics-based plant models for electromechanical/hydraulic systems for oil well downhole tool systems using Simulink/Matlab
• Develops models for oil well and various dynamic systems within a downhole tool
• Perform software-in-the-loop simulations
• Develop regression test plans and plans for increasing the speed and thoroughness of the testing and development
• Generates auto-code from controller model and plant model
• Integrates auto-code with infrastructure software
• Work with software team to implement embedded control algorithms in digital signal processors and/or FPGA as the application dictates.
• Tune the control loops, troubleshoot, and verify control algorithms
• Support a positive and proactive HSE culture and ensure that all activities adhere to HSE Policy.
• Collaborate with other business functions, including QHSE, procurement, manufacturing, and quality.
Position Requirements:
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
• Full cycle experience – design, analysis, build, test, and commercialization of high performance and reliable downhole control systems
• Experience in hydraulic systems and downhole tools
• Rotary Steerable tool experience preferred
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills, and a strong sense of ownership
• Ability to innovate and think outside the box, self-starter, self-motivated
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, critical observation, communication, and writing skills are required
• Ability to offer and receive constructive feedback towards the goal of a better, more reliable product
• Education – BS/BE (MS/ME or PhD preferred)
